Sweet Hair!!! Wow ... it's REALLY grown!!!
More pictures to come ...
At 11:10 pm, after a very long hair day, I finished up 90 yarn braids on Rachel. But ... I'm not done ... I haven't even started the top and sides.
Yes, the 90 braids were just on the back of her head. I couldn't figure out why we ran out of beads. We searched the floor and under the couch for a missing pack. Then, I counted the braids, and realized we had actually used all of the beads. So, tomorrow while I am braiding, braiding, braiding ... Hosanna will walk to the store to buy more beads.
And, a VERY fun part of today ... 2 blogging buddies came to meet us and to learn how to do yarn braids. They haven't even brought their girls home from Ghana yet ... but they are going to be READY. We had a WONDERFUL time together ... talking about hair, homeschooling, adoption transition, and LIFE.
Great to meet you Cheryl and Lisa!!!
LOVE IT!! It's fun teaching other to do hair, isn't it!! 90 with only the back, blows my mind!! K has 90 on her whole head! Once i did 120, and that was too much hair for her! I can imagine as she gets older it will increase like this, WOW! Good job!
ReplyDeleteI love the pic! I need to learn how to do this yarn braiding thing. Esther screams every time I brush her hair, and it's only about an inch long.
ReplyDeleteGinny,
ReplyDeleteOne of the joys of yarn braiding is that you don't have to comb their hair for 8-12 weeks. So, my girls are willing to "suffer" through a day of hair "pulling", knowing that it won't happen again for several months. Rachel would NOT do well with daily or weekly hairdos.

Hey Laurel-
ReplyDeleteIt was great meeting you, too. Tell Ben that he makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich. I can't wait to put yarn braids in AnnaMarie and Naomi's hair. It was so much easier than I thought it would be - just time consuming, huh? Hope you didn't have to re-do the braids that I did! LOL. Hope to see you again soon.
Cheryl
Where can I learn? Seriously. Although Baby Girl has NO hair now, I know one day I will NEED these skills.
ReplyDeleteHow/where did you learn?
I am impressed. I just posted recently about doing my son's hair, but his is just the top of his head. I can't imagine the stamina to do the whole head... way to go!
