All I Wanted for Christmas is SLEEP ...

We arrived home from Texas on Thursday night, the 23rd.

We went to a Christmas Eve service with the family on the 24th.  (This was only the 4th time we had worshipped with Papa since the beginning of April.  Oh how we have missed Papa for the past 8 months!)

We spent Christmas Afternoon at a friend's house.  (They saw us at the Christmas Eve service and asked us what our plans were for the next day.  When we told them we had no plans ... no turkey ... no presents ... no Christmas tree ... they sweetly offered to share their Christmas meal with our family.)

Then ... Papa and I headed out to the island on the last ferry on Christmas night.  A sweet couple let us use their cabin for the weekend, so that Mama could attend church with Papa on Sunday the 26th.

After church, we spent the next 8 hours visiting with members of the congregation ... going from home to home of those who invited us.  It was good to be with them, as it has been 3 months since I was on the island with Papa.

We caught the last ferry off the island last night, arriving home at 10:30 pm.

Today ... all I have wanted to do is SLEEP.  Mama is EXHAUSTED.

This is only my 12th day at home since November 13th
(that was 45 days ago, if you're wondering).

While I was BLESSED to be able to take a trip to CA
to move Ashleigh up here ...

and our time in OR for Thanksgiving was AMAZING ...

and my trip to MN with Cassie was Oh So Good ...

and the wedding in TX, FANTABULOUS
(yes, I know it's not a real word, but my kids taught it to me) ...

Mama is ready to be home ...

ready to sleep in my own bed ...

ready to NOT get into the van for a few months ...

YES, it is GOOD to be home.

  1. Glad you guys made it home and ended up with fun plans this weekend!!!

I understand the exhaustion thing, and I've been home a handful more days in the last month and a half than you have. I managed to make it through Christmas, but then crashed Sunday and spent most of today wanting to nap. Looking forward to a good night sleep tonight.

Good night! Talk to you soon :)

  5. i've followed your blog for a long time... i promise if you do as i ask, you won't be sorry. ;-)

please call my cell phone asap. the number is 703.943.8566 (please erase this comment once you've got it). i'll keep my phone on me, my name's michelle, and i'm the only one who ever answers it so it'll be me if you call. and given tonight's celebrations, i will be up late, so if you get this today PLEASE give me a call (i can be done with the conversation in 5 minutes!!! won't take long). i'm recovering from brain surgery so i'm just resting in bed, with my laptop to watch movies & such for entertainment, so i'll be able to talk whenever.

please, just do this one thing... your post, believe it or not, is a direct answer to prayer. i KNOW God had you write it for a reason, and i'm desperate to share it with you, but i'm not writing it here. i may be able to be someone God uses to bless you in some small way.
